Introduction
Northern Region Farm Machinery Training& Testing Institute is a Publicfunded agricultural andfarm training & testing institute located at Sirsa road, Hisar in the state of Haryana. It is one of the four such institutes established by theGovernment of India’s Ministry ofAgriculture & Farmers Welfare. Theinstitute is catering scheduled training program as per ‘SMAM’ guidelines for the benefit of farmers & working womanfarmers, academic level, NGO’s: Need based, encouraging entrepreneurs, theirskill development. These guidelines are re-affirmed time to time. This institute ismaking a significant contribution to meet the requirement of the trained personnelin selection, use and management aspects of farm machinery.
Viewing the importance of the testing of farm machines &training on various aspects of farm machinery, and to cope-up with theincreased demand of trained manpower in the field of agricultural mechanization, a Government of India initiallyset up the three more Institutes at Budni (Madhya Pradesh), Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and BiswanathChariali (Assam) in the year 1955, 1983 and 1990 respectively. Ithas 153.20 hectares campus. It offers testing, training and workshop in farmmachinery. Facilities include farm, 200 equipments, demonstration lab ( AutoElectrical lab, Hydraulic & Cut section lab, FARM Machinery & PowerTillage lab), classrooms, library, rest house (eight bed), Seminar Hall,Conference Room, Dispensary and hostel (150 students). It trains nearly 5,200farmers, managers, academics and students every year. Annual Krishi Darshan Expo is held at institute toexhibit the latest development in the field of farm machinery. This institute is going topursue training facility for various stake holders on Drone technology.
